Bed frame 1, Mason 0

Well, with two rough and tumble boys, it was only a matter of time, I suppose.

Yesterday, Mason and Danny were rolling around on the floor in my bedroom, and Mason somehow managed to whack his head on a sharp part of our metal bed frame. He came running to me (I was only 6 feet away, cleaning my bathroom) and I started to "rub it out" - our usual remedy for head bonks. Imagine my shock when I looked down and saw my hands covered in blood!

I called the pediatrician, and they referred us to the E.R. at Children's. My friend Tara watched Danny, while I took Mason to the hospital. The profuse bleeding had stopped, but I could tell it was a deep cut that might need a stitch or two.

Mason's head was really hurting - he didn't want anyone to come near it. I held him tight on my lap while they irrigated and stapled his head wound. He screamed and begged to be "all done" - it brought tears to my eyes. Thankfully, those Children's folks are great with little ones - and they work fast, too. He was as brave as he could be, but grateful to leave. So was I!

Other mothers of sons have warned me that this probably won't be the last time... I imagine they may be right, and yet I'm still hoping this doesn't become a regular thing. My nerves were shot yesterday!

Here's to calmer days. Please!

Oh Boy oh boy! I remember that every one of my three brothers had stitches at least once-- one of them twice. Yikes!! You have had quite a month.

You are an awesome mom for Valentine's day-- you did so many fun things!
