A Happy Valentine's Day

I don't know if it's because I live in a house full of boys or what, but lately I just love Valentine's Day. I love the pink. I love the hearts. I love the chocolate. Love it, love it, love it!

Have you noticed how store-bought valentines have really chintzed out? When I was a girl, they were still pretty chintzy, but at least they had actual little envelopes to enclose the valentine! Not so anymore. They're just these little cards that fold over, and you hold them together with a sticker. Does anyone else find these underwhelming? I want my envelope!

Mason had to take valentines in to preschool for his class exchange and we also wanted to send some to a few little friends, so I made them on the computer. It's amazing what you can do with Microsoft Publisher and card stock! We stuffed the envelopes, and then Macey added stickers and even signed his name on each one, with considerable assistance. Aren't they cute? For his class valentines, we taped a Dove chocolate on the outside, too.

Today, the boys came downstairs to a few little Valentine's gifts - candy and a card from Nana and Papa Kay, and a book each and candy from mom and dad. They are definitely on a sugar high right now. For lunch, I made them heart-shaped sandwiches and cheese, and colored their applesauce red.

My husband brought flowers home from his Sam's club trip, which was also very sweet.

Then, we put the boys to bed early and ordered in dinner! I just love it when I don't have to cook! I set the table with our wedding china and we dined by candlelight, in the comfort of our own home. All in all, it was a very lovely Valentine's Day, spent in the company of the people I love the most. I hope your day was a good one, too.
