If any of you keep up with the Pioneer Woman, then you've had the chance to read up on a little thing called Cake Pops.
If not, here's a little background. The Pioneer Woman, a.k.a. Ree Drummond, is this gal who lives out in the sticks of Oklahoma on a working cattle ranch. Her blog is insanely popular for its snapshot of country living, man-pleasing recipes, witty writing, and gorgeous photography. Also, the girl is a riot.
Anywho, recently Ree combined her talents with another food blogger, Bakerella. Bakerella came out to the ranch and did a little tutorial for a few lucky ladies on the art of making the Cake Pop.
Now, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the many entries and postings on the topic of Cake Pops. By the time I'd read them all, I thought, "Hey. I could do that!" Um, yeah.
So, I bought the ingredients and set about the task of making my own beautiful creations. Sigh. It's harder than it looks, folks!
The actual making of the cake balls was not that hard, although I did think mine seemed a little gooey. It's the decorating that must take some practice. How about a comparison? Prepare yourself for some serious cuteness. And not from me.
Bakerella's Cake Pops:
Good heavens.
My Cake Pops (*grimace*):
The good news: my kids don't care. They loved them. Cake on a stick? What could be better?!?

Good for you for trying! I've been wanting to attempt these... but now I think I'll just trust you and leave it at that.
Those are super cute! I've never seen cake on a stick! Way to go!
Yours look great! I've never attempted these myself, but am super impressed with yours!
umm, do you remember my failed attempt? I would be overjoyed if I could make them look like that!
oh, and I tried asked for "sucker sticks" in a craft store in Manhattan last week (just in case I wanted to try again) and received quizzical looks. I actually had to explain to two separate employees: "you know, the sticks that suckers are on?"
Okay, I don't know what you're talking about. I think your cake pops look pretty dang good. I must have an untrained eye or something because I think you did a fabulous job!
