Chute!

My boys have a new game. It's called "Chute!"

Basically, they haul (dirty) laundry upstairs to the laundry chute and toss it down. One boy mans the chute, the other stays downstairs to watch the clothes fall down. Doesn't it sound thrilling? I'm telling you, it entertains them for hours.

Here they are, hauling a load upstairs to the chute, which is located in our master bathroom.

Then, one of them runs back downstairs to wait for the fun. They stand watching the opening from the laundry chute, tensions high with expectation:

Once they run out of clothes, the process begins again, and they switch places.

Changing of the guard:

Once they got the hang of it, they started looking for other things they could put down the chute. I nipped this in the bud immediately. "Only SOFT things - clothes, teddy bears, and blankies!" I could just see them tossing matchbox cars and diggers down the chute, only to land on someone's head below. So far, so good.

Who knew the laundry chute could be so entertaining? I must say - I think this game is great. It keeps them busy for long periods of time. They expend lots of energy running up and down the stairs. There's no real mess for me to clean up. Works for me! Plus, it's so cute to see them working together and having fun, doing something they came up with themselves. I'm so glad my boys have each other. They really are best friends, at least for now.

That's so cute how they work together! It's funny what can entertain kids sometimes.

Ha!! That is great! I love it when my kids find something so occupying.

I do remember when my brothers were a little older (10 or 12) that they put my youngest brother down the chute. Mom was not amused.

I remember being endlessly fascinated with the laundry chute at my grandma's house.
